1920 Schellenback is indeed Black Sox member Frank Shellenback.

While this may not be news to some (in fact, this may not be news to anyone), we confirmed today that Frank Shellenback, noted for being a member of the Pacific Coast League Hall of Fame, does in fact appear on the 1920 Collins-McCarthy Zee-Nut Issue.

This set was part of a series issued by the aforementioned Collins-McCarthy Company of San Fransisco. Their cards were issued from 1911 until 1938. However, the company only put out twenty-five sets during those years.

This particular card is interesting in that Shellenback’s name was misspelled on this printing. Although it is correctly spelled in several Zee-Nut issues, here it appears as “Schellenback”. Also of note is that Shellenback, an accomplished Spitball Pitcher, appears as a batter on this card.
